We make them bright and shiny and “almost” new. But we make sure we keep the vintage character of the original trailer. Our trailers are not equipped with micro waves and flat screen tvs. Our trailers are back to original, and we make sure that they have a few original character flaws to show their vintage style. We build our trailers to give the owner an authentic 1950s experience. This 1955 Gibson trailer was built in Hollywood California, at the height of southern California’s heyday. It is a very rare and sought after trailer. There are not many of these trailers left. From the original screen door to the absolutely coolest metal tag ever, this trailer just plain screams cool! This trailer is really as nice and 50s as it gets About Canned Ham Hero's Canned Ham Heroes specializes in recreating the original beauty and retro look of vintage travel trailers. Our goal is to preserve and restore these iconic American gems. At Canned Ham Heroes we keep everything original as much as possible. Our commitment to totally restoring the right look and feel of days gone by sets us apart from the pack. We only replace inside and out anything that must be changed out to restore the trailer to the authentic beauty of its era. Each trailer we complete demonstrates a very vintage and retro appropriate look. We use all two-toned base automotive finishes that are replicated from automobiles and trailers of the 1950s and 1960s. Our interiors are era appropriate, using new birch plywood or original plywood, if possible, with new doors and drawer faces made to exactly match the originals. All hinges, handles, lighting and hardware are replaced new to match the original look and feel of the trailer. Our trailers are perfect fit and complement for custom hot rods or classic cars. Pulling a Canned Ham Heroes restoration trailer behind a classic car, you will look like you just stepped out of the ’50s or ’60s. We take great pride in that. How We Restore Canned Ham Heroes specializes in frame up restoration. Most of our trailers are taken clear down to the metal frame and rebuilt to create stronger built structures than were originally used. Everything — including wiring, woodwork and metal — is replaced as needed in the process. Trailer restoration includes removing all windows, polishing them, and resealing before we reinstall them We do not cover over any damaged areas -- we address water or other damages and repair or replace as needed We completely undercoat the vehicle and reseal the roofs to protect it from the elements during this step in the trailer restoration process If the interior wood can be restored, we strip to bare wood and reface with the highest quality materials that will bring out the original beauty of the wood
