2005 Airstream Westfalia , Description 2005 AIRSTREAM SPRINTER WESTFALIA This is the ultimate camper van! 50 years of Westfalia innovation is expertly integrated into the efficient Mercedes Sprinter diesel van. Airstream imported just 250 of them, for just one year, in 2005. The van, and its Westfalia conversion, were built in Germany, where its known as the Westfalia James Cook. The Sprinter van is powered by the venerable 2.7L Mercedes 5-cylinder turbodiesel engine, and it gets a predictable 22 miles per gallon on the highway. It has a 5-speed automatic transmission, disc brakes on all 4 wheels, ABS anti-lock brakes, anti-skid control, power steering, power door locks with keyless entry, power windows, cruise control, air conditioning, and the optional engine monitoring computer that tells you when the next oil change is due. Oil change intervals are up to 10,000 miles. Theres also a diesel-fired hydronic heater that pre-heats the engines coolant for cold-weather starting. The Westfalia camping conversion has so many features, I will probably miss a few in the following list: Carries 5 passengers safely, with full seat belts and shoulder harnesses. Sleeps 4 in two double-size beds, one on the lower level and one in the loft. Front captains chairs, fully adjustable, with armrests, that rotate to face the living space. Cupholders near front and rear seats, folding rear table. Privacy curtain that covers front windows. Dining table that stows in a special compartment over the front seats. Full galley with LPG stove, sink, 12V fridge, vent fan, many clever stowage areas. Rear bathroom with full-size toilet, sink and shower, large mirror and hidden clothesline. LPG water heater, 12V electric pressure water system, fresh water tank. LPG 2500 watt 120V AC generator and 30 Amp shore power. Two gel-cell house batteries with built-in battery charger and monitor panel. 13000BTU Dometic roof air conitioner. Espar diesel-fired forced-air heater with 3 ducts. Fully insulated, all windows behind the cab are double-glazed, with screens and sunshades. Electric skylight-sunroof, 2 high vent windows, roof vent in bathroom. Gray and black water tanks with US-standard dump valves and hoses. Flat panel TV with DVD player, roof antenna, cable connection. Smoke, Carbon Monoxide and Propane detectors.
