SCHOOL BUS CONVERSIONWHAT'S IT GOT UNDER THE HOOD?This is a 1992 Ward Bus with a 466 Detroit (International) Diesel Engine. The bus has air brakes and an Allison automatic transmission. The bus is sound and in good working order. WHAT'S IT LIKE INSIDE?The cabin sleeps 8 comfortably with 4 bunk beds, one fold out futon sleeper and a queen size bed in the rear. The bus has a full shower, bathroom, kitchen sink, stove with stove vent and an LP/Elec refrigerator. There is a slide out pantry and plenty of cabinets. The dinning area seats 6. There is also abundant storage below the bunks, dinning seats and queen bed. WHAT ABOUT THE BUSINESS END OF A CONVERSION?There are two 30 pound LP tanks on the bus, an LP furnace and the refrigerator runs on LP or electric. The bus has one house battery and two batteries for the engine. It has a 15 gallon freshwater tank, an 80 gallon grey water tank and an 80 gallon black water tank. The grey and black water tanks are made of aluminum while the fresh water tank is plastic. The bus has both 12 volt and 120 volt receptacles. It has one AC unit with runs down both sides of the bus along with three roof vent, one with a fan. On the exterior there is a 15' x 15' awning that is detachable. This comes with roll out flooring for under the awning. The tires are in good shape and there is very little exterior rust. I performed the conversion myself by using parts from a 1984 5th wheel. Any parts I did not have (like the grey and black water tanks) I had custom made by Kiefer Manufacturing in Kanawha, Iowa. They also did the paint job so that it was professionally done. The nice thing about a bus is it is all metal. Even the frame is metal. The 5th wheel I tore apart for parts was made out of two by two wood. I've seen 5th wheels rolled. They fly apart. This thing is built to last and keep you safe. Way more solid than a Winnebago.WHO YA GONNA CALL?If you are interested in taking the family on comfortable camping trips this is the RV for you.
