1964 Detroiter Coach Vintage Canned Ham/Tin Can Camper Travel Trailer (Price: $7,800 OBO) The largest of 3 models, this vintage Detroiter Tin Can Trailer is 19.5' and considered to be EXTREMELY rare! It is truly a time capsule on wheels. Interior: -Birch Wood throughout. -All cupboards are clean. -Counter top, table, sink and stove/oven are pink and in excellent condition (slight rust-- have not tried to clean or polish). Have original manual for oven. -Laminate Floor Tiles show slight wear although considered to be in great shape. -Lighting: Propane light over dinette and 60's era retro lighting. Some may show rust although a majority are in mint condition. To my knowledge everything is in working order. -Contains a shower/bathroom with newer toilet and drainage (also have manual on). -There is water damage/peeling along ceiling in the bathroom, slight carry over to the main wall (can be seen in photos). Also damage along back wall where the window is believed to have leaked. -Comes with cushions which are in good condition (white vinyl on one side/brown on reverse). Exterior: -Originally white with a teal center stripe, this camper received a 70's makeover. Some of the off-white paint is chipping and blue pinstripes show slight fading. I imagine this can be power washed, painted and restored to it's natural beauty. -The galvanized steel top has been sealed in the past although is in need of a new protective coat. -All crank style windows are in excellent condition and believed to have the original glass. -Exterior metal has a few dents, no holes or cuts. There is one panel under back window that is bowed out by an inch or two at most, may have contributed to damage along back wall. Trailer: -Single axle. Currently has minor rusting on exposed portion. -Contains a unique double propane housing unit. -Wheels are newer and in good condition. Extra's: Comes with large turquoise/white striped canopy which attaches between double doors. Rods for installation included as well as screened in walls to attach. Recap: 1964 Detroiter Coach Vintage camper - 19.5 Foot Trailer - Rear mattress with original overhead stowaway cupboards- Front dinette folds down for two with second overhead stowaway cabinet over top - Original birch paneling - All windows open and close and have screens -Toilet - Sink - Four burner propane cook-top and oven - Propane heater along wall - Solid floor with nice original linoleum flooring - Lots of storage under dinette and bed - Cabinets and drawers - 110 volt hookup with lots of lights inside - A few minor dings - No major cuts - scrapes or holes - Dual propane tanks - original vintage new radial tires - tail lights (one cover missing) and wiring - Original tail light and markers still work also - Original title. Company History: Years built: Detroiter was started in 1947 and stopped (sold out) somewhere in the mid 1980s. The very early trailers were little travel units like everything else in 1947. They were primarily a mobile home manufacturer and built the little campers for just a couple of years in the 60s. Models: In the mid-60s, Detroiter offered smaller trailer models from 13 1/2', 16 1/2' and 19 1/2'. Both the 13 1/2 and 16 1/2 models could purchase a cabover model as an option.
