2011 Mercedes Sprinter Custom Camper Van I offer for sale my silver 2011 Mercedes custom camper van. I bought a used Cargo Van in December 2013 and spent 4 months converting it into a camper. I am a retired builder (40+ years) with craftsman skills, and I built most of the van myself, only hiring others to do final electrical and gas hookups. I had searched in vain for a nice and affordable VW camper, but found nothing in decent shape. I am a smaller van type camper and the Mercedes Sprinter with the 144” wheelbase is the best alternative. It is quite a bit larger than a VW but has a great feel. I spend much of the year in Africa as a photo safari guide: www.OasisAfrica.com, so I decided to see the USA in my down time. I've done one nice trip down as far as Okeefenokee National Wildlife Refuge in South Georgia/North Florida, and hit the Smokey Mountains and other places on the way down and back as well. Then I went to Acadia National Park in Maine. My last trip was up to Vermont. I have decided that my business schedule does not permit me the prolonged trips I desire, so I think I should sell this beautiful Silver Mercedes. Since I did not want a giant RV, I had to sacrifice some things. There is no hot water and no shower nor toilet. I only stay at campgrounds so these were not necessary. I figured I could buy a small portable unit if I decided to free camp. The bed is also smaller and is not suited for a very tall person. For heating, I used a portable propane heater in super cold weather, or an electric heater when plugged in. It is well insulated. The camper is currently in Connecticut, and if I don't sell, I plan on making a trip to North Carolina and Virginia mountains. I would also consider delivering the camper to you. Please contact me with any questions or call 203.227.3623 The Mercedes Sprinter Van: This is a Model 2500, High Roof 144” wheel base. It has about 51,000 miles and is in great shape. Recently serviced. Very new tires. New front brakes and rotors (rear are great, as is usual). The diesel engine is 3.0 L, 6 Cyl. The transmission is a 5 speed automatic. I list full vehicle specifications at the bottom. The vehicle is a super driving machine getting about 18 MPG around town. Lots of power around town an on the highway. The radio has a CD unit installed. Rear windows and sliding door window. Camper Conversion. Cabinetry: Shaker style cherry cabinets with brass pulls and bolt locks. The photos will show you how much storage there is in base cabinets as well as wall cabinets. Under the bed is a microwave and storage cabinet, and the rear doors will give you access to additional storage including a vented propane gas cabinet with two Blue Rhino bottles. I can send you more photos showing different angles. Flooring: Laminated 3/8” Santos mahogany front and rear. Front also has a sisal rug covering. Rear storage area has the mahogany covered by a removable 3/8” thick rubber matting. Electrical: Both AC and DC. The electrical panel: WFCO WF-8935 RV POWER CENTER CONVERTER 35 amp W/PANEL . Two 25' 30 amp electric cords that hook the Hubbell 30 amp 125V Marine Shore / RV Power Cord Twist Lock Inlet HBL303NM to 30 amp campground power. http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B005BNZGCS/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 Three Group 24 Deep Cycle batteries connected in parallel providing ample DC power for all needs. These batteries are charged by the electric panel when hooked up to AC, but I have also installed a special National Luna Split Charger kit that charges batteries from the alternator. I imported this system from South Africa where I have used it in my safari vehicles for years. There is nothing to compare in the US. The main battery gets a full charge before connecting the batteries in parallel. The time delay function has been introduced to protect the vehicle’s alternator, as well as enabling the main battery to recover lost charge before introducing the auxiliary batteries. The cost was over $200 plus install cost of $150. Here is a link to the manual: http://www.nationalluna.com/Datasheets/Split-charge%20manual.pdf Lighting: I have two exterior 12 volt porch lights mounted high on the rear sides. This provides great outside lighting around the vehicle. Inside, I have 12 volt surface mount lighting in the rear cargo compartment, two 12 volt under cabinet lights for the counter top, and one 12 volt under cabinet light over the bed. Refrigerator: Dometic Model 2354 3-Way under counter fridge that works on propane, DC, and on AC when hooked up at campsite. The three deep cycle storage batteries will run the unit for quite some time when stationary, or you can set the control for propane. I use the 12 volt when driving since the batteries stay charged. Proper exterior fridge venting can be seen on the outside in the photo. Water System: I have installed a large cold water sink with a 20 gallon water storage tank. The vented fill is on the outside. Drains under vehicle. The water pump is a SHURFLO 12V 3.0 GPM RV Water Pump 4008-101-A65 Revolution with a SHURFLO strainer. Faucet: Moen 8103 Commercial M-Dura Single-Mount Lavatory Faucet 2.2 gpm, Chrome Bed: I opted to build the bed deck crosswise instead of longwise to provide more cabin space. This is a problem for you if you are tall. The bed is 47” wide and just under 70” long. I am 5' 10” so this is fine for me. I, also, usually sleep with my knees bent, but I can stretch out as well. The mattress is a Sleep Master 6-Inch Smooth Top Therapeutic Memory Foam Mattress. It has not yet been used. Previously, I had a 4” memory foam (called a mattress topper). This was a mistake as it stopped being a good mattress after a few dozen uses. The Sleep Master is meant to be used as a regular mattress. I have cut it down to fit. http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B005G5RZIY/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o03_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 Seating: Front passenger seat swivels 360 degrees so that you can face backwards or any direction. I found that I like to sit and read in it at 90 degrees and put my feet up on the drivers seat. http://www.eurocampers.com/2001--2015-Sprinter-Seat-Swivel-Adapters_c_41.html Miscellaneous: Atwood LP Gas Detector - RV - 12V - White - 36719 Floureon Battery Powered Carbon Monoxide Alarm Sensor Fire Extinguisher: Kidde 466141 12 volt roof vent. This is wired on a dedicated 14-2 circuit and an AC can be installed in the same space if needed. Curtains: In the front with a curtain rod. The side and rear windows are snap on. I have rarely used the window curtains as the windows are tinted. Two Blue Rhino tanks are included. Two-burner gas cook top. Panasonic Nn-sf550m Microwave Oven Single - 7.48 Gal. Bought new for the van so very little use. Tow package with adapter. Exterior luggage basket carrier that fits in the 2x2 tow bar opening. 500-Pound 60-Inch by 20-Inch Folding Cargo Carrier Basket Hitch Truck Mount Rack. Folds up when not in use. http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B005HITDEE/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o02_s01?ie=UTF8&psc=1 Highland 1041700 Rainproof Cargo Bag http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B003NBFMMY/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o02_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 BlueDEF DEF002 Diesel Exhaust Fluid - 2.5 Gallon Jug plus a full tank of BlueDef.
