Really nice old Flxible VL100. This was converted some years back and the conversion was well done with light colored wood that looks more like 1950s, although the conversion was much later than that. The Flex is powered by a Detroit Diesel 6-71 inline six, two stroke diesel. The engine runs great. It starts after months of storage without incident. It's serviced yearly by a DD mechanic, and he tells me that the motor is rock solid. The transmission is a 4-speed Spicer and the steering is Ross manual. Everything is mechanically sound. The bus drives down the highway flawlessly at about 68 MPH, which is the governed speed in fourth on the flats. I put about 4000 miles on it last summer, and I've taken it cross country several times. Recent additions from last summer include two brand new Duotherm roof air units. The front one is 15K BTU with a heat strip. The rear is a 13.5 BTU unit. It has a gas furnace in front. Newer Honda 6500 watt RV generator, water cooled, gas, that runs perfectly. Separate gas tank for the genset. Good water system, with about 80 gallons fresh and a combined black/grey water holding tank. Large walk in shower. Newer toilet. Cool old 1950s Magic Chef stove. Good radial tires all around. Queen bed in back. Couch in front folds out to a double bed. LED lighting inside. Separate house and engine batteries, with 30 amp automatic charger for the house. Huge amounts of belly storage that is unobstructed. You can really haul a lot of stuff with this rig. As you can see, it is also a beautiful looking bus. It draws attention and smiles wherever it goes. The reason I am selling it is that I use the bus for towing my vintage race car for the Great Race. Although this Flex tows the car just fine, only one guy on my support staff feels comfortable driving a straight-cut manual tranny with manual steering. It's also beyond my wife's capability. As a result, I have a new "modern" tow vehicle, and I really don't want to park this gem outside in the elements. NOTE: THE DINETTE SET (TABLE AND CHAIRS) IN THE PICTURES DO NOT COME WITH THE BUS; They will be removed prior to sale. Sorry.
