It does it with a hand remote or an inside button that activates duel winch motors for an extremely smooth motion. The top also has a very large living area inside when raised. The bed is 54x76 and can hold 350 lbs. the height is 40 in. tall, which gives you lots of moving around area. When lowered it can still carry your surfboard, lumber, snowboards, etc. The mechanism to raise and lower is of high grade steel tubing that is rock solid in the high winds. It has 6 large screened window, 6 lights on a dimmer switch and a front storage area for all your essential needs while camping in the second story.
