I am the second owner of this great RV (Dutch Star 3858 with 2 slides). It is mechanically sound, runs and drives great and is ready to go cross-country. It has the Cummins 300hp engine with a Spartan chassis. In the last 2 years this coach has had the interior updated, including the flooring in living room, slide and bedroom along with a new jack sofa and booth dinette installed (sleeps 6). In addition, the following new items have been installed/replaced: belts and air filter, both chassis batteries, 4 6-volt coach batteries (Trojan T-105), headlight assemblies, various light lenses, TST Tire Pressure/Temp Monitoring system, Jack TV antenna, rear television (DVD/TV), new wifi HD color rearview camera, Norcold refrigerator, biltstein shocks (with alignment), faux-wood mini blinds. The rig has been serviced regularly and I have all receipts and records. This unit was originally delivered with the standard white fiberglass with graphic decals. About 7 years ago it was completely painted. There are no decals…it is all paint! The cost for the paint was $20K and was not included in the NADA value (see images). The paint is still in very good condition. I also recently had color-matched spray-in bed liner material applied to the entire roof radius due to previous areas of clear coat peeling on the roof radius. The NADA value (see image) lists average retail @ $45K as delivered from the factory. I’ve added over $5K in interior upgrades in the last year and the full body paint is not reflected in the NADA value. Additionally, there is roughly $15K in upgrades on the original window sticker that were not accounted for by NADA. Now for the ‘bad’: dash a/c does not blow cold. I have rarely used it as it’s more efficient to use the generator and roof units when hot…yes, even while driving. I tried it earlier this summer and discovered it was not blowing cold. It had a bad binary switch, which I replaced, along with the drier, temp sensor (cold control) and expansion valve and recharged the system. The only thing left is the compressor, which I won’t replace as I really don’t’ use it anyway. A new compressor is @ $185. The tires are in great shape and are always protected when parked. However, the steer tires should be replaced next summer and the remaining 4 in 2018 due to date codes (they will be 7 years old).
