The CLIPPER was designed and engineered to celebrate the 65th anniversary of the Airstream Company in 1996 and ramp up and construction began in 1995 model year and production closed in the latter part of 1996. A total of 25 units of the CLIPPER were produced! The Clipper design has been well thought out for a traveling unit. The Chassis requires only regular maintenance. The CUMMINS 300hp Diesel engine and Allison transmission will run for 750,000 miles if maintained which is why these diesels hold their value. The interior layout gave a spacious kitchen, large counter space, unmatched by even the larger units of today. Because the washer/dryer was up front, the wardrobe area was large and the bath included a full garden tub, again, not seen in later models. The Airstream Clipper was, without a doubt, the ultimate luxury cruiser motor home of the day, and time has not lessened the attractiveness of this home. The Oshkosh/Freightliner raised rail chassis gave the largest basement ever built by Airstream. The unit is in outstanding / restored condition. We plan to continue to use and update the coach until it is sold. This unit was sold new to one owner for $193,888.00 in 1995.
